What is SFTP?
SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol/Secure File Transfer Protocol) is a network protocol that provides file access, file transfer, and file management over any reliable data stream. SFTP is an upgraded version of standard FTP which sends files over secure shell (SSH), providing a higher level of security. SFTP needs only a single port number for all SFTP communications, making it easier to secure than FTPS which uses multiple port numbers.
