HONG KONG – July 28, 2014 – Nine Masts, a Hong Kong investment advisor announced today that they are using Messer’s DataCube to manage all their stock borrow reconciliation and reporting.

Messer Fund Services is a Hong Kong based technology company that provides comprehensive reporting solutions to financial institutions through their core product, DataCube. The DataCube stock loan module manages the entire securities lending process from locate, through short-sale, up to the return of any loans, while tracking the cost and reconciling inventory each counterparty. DataCube offers detailed reports and web-based dashboards allowing users to view current inventories with lending rates, and alerts using user-defined triggers, such as a rate exceeding a threshold.

During the first half of 2013, Nine Masts evaluated third party solutions to stock borrow management. “We were looking for a comprehensive solution to address all of the challenges hedge fund advisors face with tracking, reconciling, and reporting stock borrow positions. We needed a solution that could be on-boarded quickly and could work within our current applications platform.” said Elaine Davis, Chief Operating Officer of Nine Masts, “When we looked at alternatives, Messer understood the complexities of what we were trying to achieve, worked within our existing IT and application framework and implemented a solution within the established timeline. We continue to be impressed by the speed of the enhancements and have benefitted from the savings this system’s information provides.”

In selecting a vendor Nine Masts required a solution that would interact seamlessly with all of their large number of counterparties and handle global markets and complex strategies efficiently. According to Ms. Davis, Messer satisfied all of these requirements as well as providing direct access to the product developers and offering virtually immediate response time.

Nine Masts went live with DataCube in August 2013. “Messer was able to meet all of our requirements and the system was live well within the expected timeframe” said Davis. “Messer continues to enhance the system and have worked with us to provide custom reporting on a regular basis.” “Our vision at Messer is to simplify reporting and automate repetitive manual tasks so that our clients can focus on their strengths and add more value to their organization” said Bryan Messer, Chief Executive Officer of Messer Fund Services. “We are very excited to have had the opportunity to work with Nine Masts and deliver a product that saves them time and money.”
